The assault occurred around 5:43 p.m. near 4400 Fanuel St., near the intersection of Grand Avenue, according to San Diego Police Department Officer Jose Perales.
Perales described the suspect as a thin man about 30 to 40 years old, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with tattoos on both arms, wearing a black baseball cap, black shirt and grey pants. He may be wielding a grey metal baseball bat and riding a BMX-style black bicycle, police added.
As of 7:10 p.m., police are still looking for the suspect.
The woman had to be transported to a hospital, but the severity of her injuries have not been confirmed, police told NBC 7.
