A fast-moving cold front is on the way, and it is expected to bring a round of rain showers to the DMV Friday evening.

Rain is likely to reach the I-81 corridor between 3-5 p.m. and the I-95 corridor between 4-6 p.m.

Ahead of the rain, it will be mild and breezy with temperatures nearing 70°.

Since the front is moving briskly, the rain is expected to end between midnight and sunrise, leaving us with dry weather for the remainder of the weekend.

Saturday will be the cooler half of the weekend with highs in the mid-60s, and most of the D.C. metro will get close to 80° on Sunday.

Cool, rainy start to the workweek

Another cold front will arrive early Monday morning. Rain is likely through the AM commute and should be ending after noontime. Blustery, northwest winds will limit Monday afternoon temperatures to the low to mid-50s at best.

Much of the area will drop below freezing on Tuesday morning and Tuesday afternoon will remain quite chilly with highs only around 50°. That will likely be the last chance to go below freezing in the D.C. metro area.

Wednesday and Thursday look to stay dry with highs near 60° on Wednesday and 70° on Thursday. The cherry blossoms are likely to be nearing peak bloom by the end of next week.
