A U.S. Park Police officer was shot in the line of duty in Southeast D.C. Monday night, U.S. Park Police (USPP) confirmed.
The officer was taken to a hospital and is in non-life-threatening condition, according to USPP.
The shooting happened on 5046 Queens Stroll Place SE at around 7:30 p.m., USPP said.
It is not yet clear what led up to the shooting or whether police have caught the shooter.
The U.S. Marshals say the investigation is ongoing.
The Metropolitan Police Department said the following roads are closed due to police activity:
- 5000-5100 blocks of Queen Stroll, SE
- 5000 block of Benning Road, SE, between H Street and Southern Avenue
- 4600 Block of Hillside Road, SE, between Benning Road and 46th Street
