The bare-bottomed burglar is back, and this time he was caught on camera in the Northern Virginia neighborhood where he has struck at least five times.
The video shows the man about 5 a.m. Wednesday on Palmerston Square in Centreville wearing nothing but shoes and what appears to be a piece of clothing wrapped around his head. He’s suspected of creeping in the same neighborhood at least four times last month.
The video shows a floodlight turning on as the man appeared to check a sliding door for an opening. It was locked, Fairfax County police said, and after about 30 seconds, he jogged away.
Another camera in the neighborhood got a pretty good shot of his face, though it was partially covered.
A woman who said she lives at the house where the naked burglar was seen said she was inside with her husband and their young kids. She said the kids don’t know anything about it.
Four previous incidents happened one night after another in early March, police said.
“It is scary and it is creepy, because I think he just wants to get his kicks off of letting people see him,” neighbor Diane Blevins said.
Or he might find gratification being in the news, police said.
The man isn’t accused of stealing anything, police said, and they don’t believe he’s violent.
“And we work very closely with our detectives with the sex crimes to see if there’s any commonalities between individuals they’ve worked with in the past, and certainly our end goal is to make sure it does not exceed beyond what we’ve seen so far,” said Maj. James Curry of Fairfax County police.
Possible charges could include peeping, indecent exposure and burglary, police said.
