4 things to know about the weather:
- Warmer Today & Tomorrow
- Rain Arrives Sunday Morning
- Much Colder Next Week
- Frost Concerns Tuesday Night
The roller coaster of temperatures continues.
Thursday at 3 p.m. was 53°, a dramatic 35° colder than it was just 24 hours prior. By Friday afternoon at 3 p.m., we should be near 80° once again.
We’re starting off with east winds, plenty of low clouds and temperatures in the upper 40 and low 50s.
Southwest winds will return later this morning and become a bit gusty this afternoon. That will bring out the sunshine and bring back the warm air that was here just two days ago
Southwest winds will keep temperatures in the low 60s Friday night and bring us to near record highs on Saturday. The D.C. record for Saturday is 88°.
Clouds will gradually increase late Saturday afternoon and evening ahead of a storm that will impact the area on Sunday.
Easter Sunday rain chances
If you are heading to a sunrise service on Sunday morning, there’s still hope that it will remain dry, but rain is expected to arrive no later than 9-10 a.m. Rain is expected from mid-morning until late afternoon as temperatures hover in the mid-60s to around 70°.
Southwest winds will turn to the northwest Sunday afternoon. That will bring an end to the rain and send temperatures tumbling.
Temps cool early next week
We’ll start in the mid-40s Monday morning and struggle to reach 60° Monday afternoon, even with plenty of sunshine.
Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday will stay in the 50s, and there may well be a frost/freeze concern on both Monday night and Tuesday night of next week.
After that cold snap temperatures are likely to be near 80° again by the end of next week.
