Storm Team4 Forecast: Chilly, blustery ahead of freeze warning for Tuesday night

A hard freeze is coming to our area Tuesday night. The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for almost the entire area. Only Calvert and St. Mary’s counties are not included.

Gusty northwest winds will kick-up after sunrise and not settle back down until after sunset. Highs Tuesday afternoon will only reach the low to mid-50s. Dew points, which are in the 30s Tuesday morning will fall into the 10s by Tuesday evening.

Very dry air, light winds and clear skies is the recipe for maximum, radiational cooling. Temperatures will fall into the mid- to upper 20s by Wednesday morning. Only downtown D.C., Southern Maryland and communities right along the Bay might escape the freeze.

Wednesday night into Thursday morning will also be cold enough for the sheltered valleys and rural areas to get another freeze while the urban areas will only drop into the mid- to upper 30s. A warming trend will begin on Thursday afternoon when highs will finally get back above 60°.

The weekend looks to remain dry with highs close to 70° both days. Mid- to upper 80s are coming for the first half of next week. There’s no chance for any beneficial rainfall anywhere in the next seven to 10 days.
