Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield traded Olympics rings for wedding rings this past weekend.
The Olympic stars tied the knot in a “magical” wedding in Trenton, Georgia, on Saturday.
The wedding is the latest milestone in the athletes’ relationship, which began with Bromfield sending Lyles a spontaneous DM in 2018.
“It led to a very long seven-year story of us eventually meeting, falling in love, being able to be with each other, not being able to be with each other and then finally getting into a relationship where we have always stayed together — and now have gotten married,” Lyles told Vogue, which got a behind-the-scenes look at the wedding.
Bromfield wore a “clean, regal” wedding dress, while Lyles donned a deep chocolate suit to match the “All Shades of Melanin” theme. The bridesmaids and groomsmen also wore various shades of brown.
“It was definitely a ceremony of unity,” Bromfield said. “It was just amazing to see the different cultures mesh into one. Everybody was having fun, interacting, and filled with love.”
Team USA’s Noah Lyles remembers mistakenly congratulating Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson for winning the men’s 100m Sunday in Paris. Lyles captured gold by 5/1000th of a second, replay showed.
Even at her wedding, Bromfield wouldn’t slow down. The Olympic bronze medalist from Jamaica said she sped down the aisle.
“I heard I didn’t walk down the aisle,” she said. “I heard that I ran.”
Lyles also carried his signature enthusiasm from the track to the wedding, saying he was overcome with emotion.
“I already knew I was going to cry, I just didn’t know when,” he said. “But when Junelle read the title of her vows, I was like, ‘Oh, yep, this is the part. This is when I cry.’
“Her hands shook so much that she couldn’t hold the vow book, so I ended up holding it for her. But I was also crying, so I couldn’t wipe away my own tears. It was a super magical moment.”
The reception included a speech from Lyles, a performance from gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard and a firework show that finished just before rain started to fall.
The wedding rings are the latest jewelry for Lyles and Bromfield. Lyles took home a gold medal and the title of “fastest man in the world” with a win in the 100m at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Team USA sprinter also has bronze medals in the 200m from the last two Summer Games. Bromfield, meanwhile, earned Olympic bronze with Jamaica in the 4x400m relay at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
Team USA’s Noah Lyles won gold in the 100m final at the 2024 Paris Olympics by a margin of five thousandths of a second. Let’s put that into perspective.
