Storm Team4 Forecast: Temps only reach 50s after freezing cold morning

The battle between hot and cold continues and we might see as much as a 60° range in temperatures between Wednesday morning and next Tuesday. Thankfully, that jump won’t take place all in one day.

Most areas are below or near freezing Wednesday morning and Thursday morning will be just about as cold. Sunny skies will only be able to warm us into the low to mid-50s Wednesday afternoon. The rural areas north and west of Dulles Airport should be prepared for another frost/freeze threat Wednesday night.

More of a southerly wind direction Thursday will get most of the area back above 60°. Friday looks delightful with light winds, sunshine and in the 70s.

Could we hit 90° next week?

A very weak cold front will drop through the area on Saturday. The biggest impact on our area will be some additional cloud cover. Very dry air at the surface will prevent us from getting any beneficial rainfall. A warm front will come through Sunday evening and we will bounce right back into feeling more like summer than spring.

Highs will reach the low to mid-80s on Monday and perhaps 90° on Tuesday. On average, D.C.’s first 90° doesn’t arrive until mid-May. If we get there next week, it will be our earliest 90° since 2013 and one of the top 10 earliest 90s on record.
