4 things to know about the weather:
- Stray shower possible Monday
- April heat wave starts Tuesday
- Records likely Tuesday through Saturday
- Elevated fire danger
After a small rain chance Monday, the rest of the week is likely to be completely dry with a likelihood of tying or breaking many daily heat records.
Record highs could easily be tied or broken starting Tuesday and continuing all the way into the upcoming weekend.
Drought concerns have been increasing over the past month and local growers and gardeners are going to have their hands full trying to keep early plantings alive in this pattern.
Skies will remain mostly cloudy Monday and though there is a chance for rain, any rain we get Monday will be 0.10” or less. Highs Monday will still be near 80° which is 13° above average.
This hot and dry pattern will also mean an elevated fire risk until we can get a soaking rain. Use extra caution or put off any outdoor burning this week if possible.
Temperatures will hover near 60° Monday night and then climb to near 90° on Tuesday as the heat wave begins. Highs will be in the low to mid-90s for Wednesday and Thursday.
A very weak cold front will approach the area late this week so most areas should stay in the 85-90° for Friday and Saturday. With any luck, rain will come on Sunday and return temperatures to the seasonal averages.
