Police said a man beat and shot a woman inside a Philadelphia apartment before taking his own life Friday evening.
According to police, officers were called to an apartment on the 4900 block of Parkside Avenue just before 11 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, after receiving a report about a shooting.
Police said when officers arrived, they found that a woman had been taken to a nearby hospital after being beaten and shot in the head. They also found a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in the alleyway next to the apartment.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Through an investigation, police said, officers found that the woman had been beaten by the man, her boyfriend, inside the home in front of their children. The man then shot the woman in the head in an attempt to kill her. After, the man went into the alleyway and shot himself.

Police said several other people were inside the home during the incident, who shielded the children from what happened. No one else was hurt.
According to police, the woman is in stable condition at the hospital.
