A man from West Deptford, New Jersey, is facing a first-degree attempted murder charge after stabbing a woman multiple times on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, Gloucester County prosecutor Andrew B. Johns said.
According to Johns, a witness called 911 on Friday after they went to go check on the woman and saw 62-year-old Randall D. Bilger bloody and holding a knife.
The witness said the front door was locked, but they then went to the back door, where Bilger answered while holding a bloody knife and said to the witness, “It’s not a good time,” according to Johns.
When officers arrived, Bilger came to the front door, but refused to come out, Johns said. Officers then went inside the home and arrested Bilger.
Inside the home, officers also found a woman with stab wounds to her shoulder and abdomen, Johns said.
An initial investigation found that the woman was stabbed in the shoulder several hours before the witness arrived, and the stab wound to the abdomen occurred shortly before the witness knocked on the door, Johns said.
The unidentified woman was taken to the hospital and is in an unknown condition, Johns said.
Bilger was expected to have an initial court date on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, Johns said. He faces a third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon along with the murder charge, which could result in up to 25 years in prison.
