‘Do not eat each other’s snacks’: Students give adorable marriage advice in teacher’s viral TikTok

If you want honest marriage advice, ask a room of second graders. 

Teacher Klarissa Trevino, 26, had always hoped to involve her students in some way with her wedding. When she came up with the idea of having them write their best piece of marriage advice, she knew it was the perfect fit. 

“I love my students, like, absolutely love them,” Trevino told NBC News. “They’re the funniest kids.”

The advice, which she shared in a TikTok video, quickly went viral: “Do not eat each other’s snacks,” “Get her Starbucks everyday” and “Be kind and love each other.”

She expected the video, which has garnered more than half a million views, to resonate with her friends, but was stunned to see it go viral.

“It was just too precious not to share,” Trevino told People. “I was actually very surprised with the reaction it got on TikTok and the amount of people that supported it and adored it.”

Trevino’s students loved working on the assignment, and she enjoyed watching them discuss and share advice they would give.

“Being able to get a glimpse of their version of marriage and love was very sweet,” she told the outlet. “It made me so happy that they have homes that have shown them the true meaning of it.”

Trevino, who has been teaching second grade for three years, recently tied the knot. Her now husband told NBC News that he already put one piece of advice to use: “You should go to a fancy restaurant.”

“And I did just that,” Trevino’s husband Omar said. “When we got to Vegas, where we had our wedding, I went ahead and got the corner table at the Eiffel Tower.”

Trevino told People the activity reminded her of the “strong relationship” that’s she’s built with her students, noting “how amazing our classroom bond was.”

“These are 7 and 8 year olds talking about, you know, that love isn’t about hurting somebody,” Trevino said. “Love is kind. So, it was really nice to kind of see how they thought. Kids are amazing.”
