A 73-year-old man has been charged after he threatened a medical office employee with a handgun during a dispute over a bill, Delaware State Police said on Saturday.
Teddy Torres is accused of lifting his shirt to show an employee his handgun after getting into a dispute over a bill at a medical office at 1 Centurian Drive in Newark, Del., on Thursday, March 19, 2026, police said.
Torres also “made a statement indicating it would be easy to take the employee hostage” during the altercation, police said.
During the investigation, police found that Torres did have a license to carry concealed deadly weapons in Delaware, police said.
However, Torres was taken into custody and is facing aggravated menacing, which is a felony, and related charges, police said.
Torres remains in custody as of Saturday night and is being held on $67,000 bond, police said.
