Man killed, woman injured when gunfire erupts in South Philly, police say

A shooting around lunchtime in South Philadelphia has left one man dead and a woman hospitalized, officials said.

According to police, officers responded to the 1900 block of South 21st Street in South Philly at about 12:10 p.m. on Sunday to find two people, a man and a woman, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims, police said, were taken to a nearby hospital where the man was pronounced at about 12:26 p.m.

The woman, officials said, was hospitalized but her condition was not immediately known by police.

No arrests were immediately made in this incident and, investigatiors said, no motive was immediately known in this incident.

But, officials said the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating.
