Law enforcement officials have released new surveillance footage in the hopes of finding a man who, police say, stole a dog from Philly’s Fern Rock community on March 19, 2026.
Police shared footage of the incident on social media on Wednesday.
According to police, officers were contacted at about 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, after a resident of a property along the 5800 block of North Park Street in Philly’s Fern Rock section, said a man had stolen his pet dog from in front of his home.
The animal, a Patterdale Terrier named “Mocha,” had gotten out of the home while the homeowner was having work done to his property, officials said, and had wandered out front.
While the dog was out front of the home, officials said, a man in a black Toyota Scion XD, with a missing passenger side hubcap, stopped his vehicle while driving along North Park Street and exited his car before picking the dog up off the street, putting the animal in his vehicle and driving away.
Police said the vehicle was last spotted headed eastbound on Grange Avenue toward 12th Street.
An investigation into this incident, officials said, is still underway.
Police are asking anyone who may recognize this individual or who may have more information on this incident to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s Northwest Detective Division at 215-686-3353/3354.
