A student is facing charges after officials said they were found with a loaded “ghost gun” at a high school in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan and Emmaus Police Deputy Chief Bryan Hamscher shared that around 10:20 a.m., on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, a student was found with a loaded gun at Emmaus High School, located at 500 Macungie Ave.
The firearm was discovered by school personnel during a search conducted in response to an unrelated incident, officials said.
The student did not brandish the weapon nor make any threats, and officials said it does not appear that anyone else was involved with the gun or injured during the incident.
Officials said the gun, a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, appeared to be a “ghost gun” because it was not sold through the normal course of firearms commerce and does not have a serial number.
Officials said the student will not be identified, but has been taken into custody and will face felony charges in juvenile court.
