At the corner of Susquehanna Avenue and Norris Street in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood a large sinkhole has neighbors on edge.
NBC10 crews saw many people stepping around it to avoid getting hurt while others stopped to snap photos of the caved-in pavement on Wednesday, March 25.
Neighbors said that the ground opened up on Sunday, March 22.
Since then, Mexican restaurant Loco Pez has posted several photos of the hole on social media using humor to cope with the frustration and to warn customers to watch their step.
One employee explained that it is disrupting their delivery operations.
Valerie Campo has lived in the area for more than five years and says scenes like this are becoming far too common.
Meanwhile, neighbor Brian Green said that he’s been staring at the eyesore for days and calls it a safety hazard for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
As of last check, Philadelphia city records show the Streets Department received more than 1,000 pothole or sinkhole reports to 311 since the beginning 2026.
