A driver who died in a crash as an Evesham Township police officer attempted a traffic stop has been identified.
According to officials, on March 20, 2026, around 4:30 a.m., Evesham Township Police Officer Robert Haynes, who was driving a marked police vehicle, attempted to pull over a Ford Mustang, being driven by Joseph J. Meadowcroft, 22, of Evesham, on Route 73 in the area of Greentree Road in the Marlton section of the township.
As he was driving, officials said Meadowcroft’s Mustang collided with an uninvolved tractor-trailer near the intersection of Route 73 and Lincoln Drive in Evesham.
Meadowcroft suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene, officials said. The police vehicle was not involved in the crash and the driver of the truck was not injured.
New Jersey’s attorney general is investigating after a driver died in a crash while police attempted a traffic stop in Evesham Township on Friday morning. NBC10’s Shaira Arias has the story.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
