Officials identified and charged a woman accused of running her ex-boyfriend over with her car at a North Philadelphia car wash in an incident that was captured on video.
Imani Walker, 27, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, accident involving death or personal injury, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and criminal mischief.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at a car wash on North Broad Street, investigators said. Moctar Elias, 42, told NBC10 his ex-girlfriend — who investigators identified as Walker — confronted him at the car wash where he works.
Surveillance video shows the man and woman talking and arguing before Walker slaps coffee out of Elias’ hand, according to police.
Walker then swung at Elias who swung back, leading to a fight between the two, according to officials. Elias then brought Walker to the ground and held her there as he called police, investigators said.
Walker then went into her car, drove to Elias’ car, got out and began smashing his car windows with a hammer before returning to her own vehicle, according to officials.
Officials said Elias then picked up the hammer and struck Walker’s car as she reversed her vehicle toward the exit. Walker then intentionally drove into Elias, according to police. NBC10 obtained exclusive video of the incident.
An argument between two people was caught on camera as a woman ran over a man with her car at a car wash on Wednesday.
The car then crashed and caught fire and Walker fled the scene on foot, officials said. Elias was taken to the hospital and treated for neck and leg injuries, officials said.
Walker was eventually arrested and arraigned on Friday, April 10. She posted a $75,000 bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 24, 2026.
Her case will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Margaret McDermott of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office’s Family Violence & Sexual Assault Unit (FVSA).
“It is important that survivors of domestic violence know that, regardless of their gender, my office, along with community-based partners such as WOAR Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Violence, will work vigorously to achieve justice for them,” said District Attorney Larry Krasner. “The DAO’s Victim Services Unit will work collaboratively with our external contracted partners to provide critical support services to the survivor and co-survivors who have been impacted by this senseless act of violence as they journey towards healing.”

Online court documents don’t list an attorney who could speak on Walker’s behalf.
Victim speaks out
On Thursday, April 9, a day after the incident, Elias returned to his job to talk with co-workers and gather his belongings.
“I was scared, I was really scared. I was surprised, thank God I’m still alive,” Elias told NBC10.
Elias said he had never had a fight or confrontation like the incident that occurred on Wednesday.
“Never, never happened, never happened,” he said.
According to Elias, he and Walker dated for about five years.
“You know we was going through something, we broke up,” Elias said. “I don’t know maybe she was going through something.”

Moctar Elias, 42, spoke exclusively with NBC10 about a violent encounter at a North Philadelphia car wash that was captured on surveillance video.
Nieema Elias — a woman who Moctar Elias identified as his ex-wife — also showed up on Thursday at the car wash, concerned about his well-being.
“I wish it never happened like that. She deserves to be in jail. She should never see the light again. To try and take somebody’s life that,” Nieema Elias said.
But Moctar Elias said he has forgiveness in his heart.
“I don’t want to see her go to jail to be honest,” Elias said.
However, he said he doesn’t know if he’ll ever come back to work.
“I be scared to work,” he said.
