Starting Monday, in an effort to prevent reckless driving, a 60-day warning period for new speed cameras along Frankford Avenue — AKA Route 13 — will start Monday.
Officials with the Philadelphia Parking Authority said in a statement that the new cameras, along Route 13 from Morrell Avenue to Levick Street, will go live on Monday, initially warning anyone who violates the 25 m.p.h. speed limit at those cameras.
Then, those warnings will turn into fines on June 12, 2026.
“Speed enforcement cameras are critically important tools that have dramatically reduced speeding along Roosevelt Boulevard by 95%,” said Rich Lazer, Executive Director of the Philadelphia Parking Authority, in a statement. “This program is about improving public safety and saving lives. We hope to bring about similar results along Broad Street where cameras were installed last year, and now Route 13.”
Officials said there will be speed cameras on intersections at:
- 9900 Frankford Ave.
- 8300 Frankford Ave.
- 7000 Frankford Ave.
- 6400 Frankford Ave.
- 3100 Levick St.
- 2100 Robbins St.
Drivers caught by the cameras traveling 11 m.p.h. over the 25 m.p.h. speed limit, officials said, will eventually receive $100 fines for traveling 11-19 m.p.h. over the speed limit, $125 for traveling between 20-29 m.p.h. over the speed limit and $150 for anything 30 m.p.h. or more over the speed limit.
