A man was hurt after gunfire erupted at an illegal “after hours club” in Berks County over the weekend, according to officials in the City of Reading.
Officers were called to the 1700 block of Muhlenherg Street in Reading around 6:18 a.m. on Sunday, April 12 when dispatchers received several calls reporting gunshots, police said.
When officers got to the scene, they reported finding several spent shell casings and cars parked on the block that were hit by apparent gunfire.
The officers were also told about an incident at an unsanctioned “after hours club” may have been what led to the shots being fired, police explained.
As the police were investigating the scene, officials said that a 21-year-old man arrived to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Then, hours later the police department got a call reporting a drunk 31-year-old man who had a gunshot wound to his arm, officials said. Investigators believe he was also shot during the incident at the “after hours club.”
The Reading Police Department is investigating this incident.
