Authorities are looking for a man who allegedly lit a sleeping subway rider on fire before fleeing the train at one of Manhattan’s busiest hubs earlier this week, officials say.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the man believed to be connected to the incident at 34th Street-Penn Station on Monday. They say the 56-year-old victim was sleeping on a northbound No. 3 train around 3 a.m. when the doors opened at Penn Station, a man got on and ignited him before leaving again immediately.
The victim was taken to the hospital with serious burns and is expected to survive. It’s not clear if he knew his attacker, nor was it known what happened prior to the incident.
