One of the breakout stars of “Heated Rivalry” is hosting “Saturday Night Live” later this month.
Connor Storrie will be back at 30 Rock mere weeks after making his first late-night talk show appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”
The fervor over the Canadian hockey romance show has jettisoned Storrie and his costar Hudson Williams to carry the Olympic torch in Italy and present at the Golden Globes.
“Heated Rivalry” became an outright phenomenon after only premiering its six-episode first season last November. The show has already been spoofed on “SNL,” sparked a rush on NY Public Library visits during a snow storm, and inspired a real-life hockey player to publicly come out.
The show centers on the relationship between Russian Ilya Rozanov, played by Storrie, and Canadian Shane Hollander, played by Williams, who are rivals on the ice but lovers off of it.
A large crowd of fans waited hours in the cold outside 30 Rock to try and spot Storrie before or after his “Late Night” taping in January. If that appearance was an indication, the crowds for his “SNL” episode will surely be one for the books.
Storrie will host the Feb. 28 episode of “Saturday Night Live” with musical guest Mumford & Sons.
