An investigation is underway after NYPD officers shot an armed man in the head as they searched for a parole violator in the Bronx on Thursday, according to law enforcement sources.
According to sources, the officers were looking for a suspect wanted on a parole warrant when shots were fired inside a Willis Avenue home around 7:15 a.m.
Sources say officers encountered a man in a bedroom. That man allegedly showed a gun. Officers discharged their weapons, hitting the person in the head. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The officers were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
It’s not clear how many police bullets were fired. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
Significant traffic delays were reported in the area.
