New surveillance video from inside the Brooklyn bodega where a mother and father raced their 7-month-old as gunfire erupted on the street in broad daylight captures the moment her mother realizes her baby has been hit.
The mother jumps in agony, her hands flying to her head as her back sinks against refrigerated drinks. She looks again into the stroller, leaps up and moves away, her feet stomping and arms thrashing in emotion.
The baby’s father looks into the stroller, then steps back in shock. He wheels the stroller around and races it out of the store as bystanders look on in disbelief. The parents brought her to a hospital.
The baby was shot in broad daylight in Brooklyn on Wednesday. She was not the intended target.
The child, Kaori Patterson-Moore, died at a hospital about an hour after shots were fired near the corner of Moore and Humboldt streets. Sources have said she was shot in the head.
Police say Kaori was the unintended victim of a gang-related shooting. One suspect is in custody.
A manhunt is ongoing for the second suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
