Louisville couldn’t dig itself out of a huge first-half hole on Wednesday night, losing in its first true road game of the season 89-80 at No. 25 Arkansas in an ACC/SEC Challenge contest. The Cardinals shot just 33.3% in the first half as the Razorbacks built an 18-point lead at the break, getting no closer than five points in the second half. Freshman Mikel Brown Jr. led Louisville with 22 points, with Xavier transfer Ryan Conwell adding 15 points and German junior Sananda Fru finishing with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Minnesota took control of the game with a 10-2 run midway through the second half en route to handing visiting Indiana a 73-64 loss in the Big Ten Conference opener for both teams. It was the first actual road game of the campaign for the Hoosiers, who shot just 33.3% in the second half. Troy transfer Tayton Conerway paced Indiana with 18 points and four steals, while Sam Houston transfer Lamar Wilkerson tossed in 15 points, and Florida transfer Sam Alexis came off the bench for 10. DePaul transfer Conor Enright dished seven assists in the loss.
Louisville finished 27-8 last season with a loss to Creighton in the first round of the NCAA tournament, while Indiana went 17-14 and turned down a postseason bid before hiring coach Darian DeVries away from West Virginia. The Hoosiers are 12-10 all-time against the Cardinals, who won the last meeting on Nov. 27, 2024, taking an 89-61 blowout in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis.
