A new exhibit at the Bronx History Museum celebrates the borough’s dance culture and honors the trailblazers who turned the Latin Hustle, Rocking, Burning, Breakin’ and Boogying into a worldwide phenomenon.
“When the Bronx Moved: Histories of Dance 1970–84” transports visitors back to the era when shaking and grooving took over the Bronx, through personal photos, clothing, oral histories, video clips and memorabilia. City Limits spoke with the exhibit’s curators about how they translated years of dance history and culture into a single immersive showcase.
Want to visit the exhibit? Stop by 3266 Bainbridge Ave. during the weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
