The private funeral for Michael Altman, the Chicago firefighter killed in a blaze earlier this month, was rescheduled for Tuesday.
The services, originally planned for last Friday, were canceled after Altman’s wife went into labor Thursday. Visitation for Altman was still held Thursday afternoon at St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel, 7740 S. Western Ave.
The Altman family will now have invitation-only services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 31 at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home and Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Anyone wishing to support the family Tuesday morning are invited to line the route from 103rd Street and Cicero Avenue to 111th Street to Holy Sepulchre, 6001 W. 111th St.
Altman died while fighting a fire in a Rogers Park apartment March 16. He was among the crew who responded to the blaze in a four-story building in the 1700 block of West North Shore Avenue. He fell through a floor that collapsed.
