The Kansas City Chiefs shocked quite a few people when they traded star cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams earlier in the offseason.
The Rams sent the 29th overall pick plus fifth- and sixth-round picks in the 2026 draft and a 2027 third-round pick to KC in exchange for the Pro Bowl CB, leaving a big hole open in the middle of the team’s secondary.
Fortunately for the Chiefs, the 2026 draft is pretty stacked at the cornerback position, which is why ESPN draft expert Matt Miller predicts KC will grab Clemson’s Avieon Terrell, the brother of Atlanta Falcons All-Pro CB A.J. Terrell, with its 29th pick.

“The Chiefs have a history of drafting and developing cornerbacks, just to watch them leave,” Miller wrote. “This offseason, Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson departed for the Rams via trade and free agency, respectively. The McDuffie deal got Kansas City this pick, which it could use on Terrell.
“The younger brother of Falcons’ cornerback A.J. Terrell Jr. is similar to McDuffie in his ability to play inside or outside. Avieon Terrell had three interceptions at Clemson while allowing only 4.4 yards per attempt when targeted by opposing quarterbacks.”

Miller also projects the Chiefs to use the No. 9 overall pick to grab Miami edge-rusher Rueben Bain Jr. and the 40th overall pick to grab Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard.
If the Chiefs were to make all three of those picks, they will have filled arguably their biggest hole (CB), had arguably the best pass-rusher in the draft fall into their laps, and secure another game-breaking receiving weapon to give quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
