EAST BRIDGEWATER, MASS. (WHDH) – A dog who went missing after he was kicked into a busy street in Dorchester in March has been returned to his owner safely.
On March 19, Neomi Nunez said she was walking her 11-pound dog Biscuit near her mother’s home on Dudley Street when a man she didn’t know came up to her and kicked him. Biscuit flew into the air, then ran into traffic.
“I couldn’t believe that anyone would assault any animal like that. The way that he was kicked, I was in shock,” Nunez said.
Nunez said she put up fliers all over Boston asking the community for help, and eventually one resident came through.
“I get a phone call from a woman, and she said ‘I think I have your dog,’” Nunez said. “She said, ‘do you have an iPhone? I can FaceTime you.’ And I’m like, ‘yes!’ And when she did it was him, he was looking confused and I started crying and saying, “that’s Biscuit, that’s Biscuit.’”
Nunez said she happened to be in Boston when she got that call, and had a happy reunion with her beloved pet five minutes later.
Biscuit was soaking wet and startled, but nevertheless healthy and excited to be back at home with his owner.
“My family is whole again, I’m able to sleep at night again, his sister is eating, everything is back to normal,” Nunez said.
Boston police said the man who kicked Biscuit was arrested and charged with animal cruelty.
