Every living former U.S. President has denied the claim made by President Donald Trump that at least one of them approves of his war in Iran.
On Monday, Trump spoke to reporters and said, “I’ve spoken to a certain president, who I like, actually… A past president, a former president. He said, ‘I wish I did it.’ But they didn’t do it. I’m doing it.”
Trump did not say at the time who the conversation was with, telling reporters, “I can’t tell you that. I don’t want to embarrass him. It would be very bad for his career, even though he’s got no career.”
Representatives for all four living presidents – Democrats Joe Biden, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, along with Republican George W. Bush – have since denied this, according to AP.
This is a developing story. More to follow.
