New England Patriots
Drake and Ann Michael Maye were on site at TD Garden Tuesday for the Bruins’ win over the Dallas Stars.
Be it on Causeway Street, in Foxborough, or across Fenway Park, one piece of sporting attire has taken hold across the Boston sports sphere over the last year.
You’ve seen it — the “I [Heart] Drake Maye” t-shirt.
Several of those shirts joined the sea of black-and-gold sweaters surrounding the TD Garden ice on Tuesday for the Bruins’ game against the Dallas Stars.
During the second period of Boston’s eventual 6-3 win over Dallas, the TD Garden videoboard showcased one Patriots fan up against the glass, who showed off his viral graphic tee dedicated to New England’s franchise QB.
As the Patriots’ familiar anthem — “Your Love” by The Outfield — blared over the TD Garden speakers, the videoboard cut to both Drake Maye and his wife, Ann Michael Maye, who were there watching the game.
Drake Maye made a heart sign with his hands after landing on the Jumbotron, saluting the fan as all of TD Garden roared in approval.
You can watch the now-viral moment below:
Maye tipped his cap to the fan as part of his salute, showing off his new buzz cut.
Earlier on Tuesday, both Drake and Ann Michael Maye were in Quincy, as the Patriots signal-caller shaved his head as part of Granite Telecommunications’ “Saving by Shaving” event benefiting Boston Children’s Hospital. The event raised more than $4 million.
“First off, we love dealing with kids. Dealing with children,” Drake Maye told The Boston Globe’s Christopher Price. “They’re oftentimes the biggest fans of us players, and I think it’s just such a cool experience to be able to shine a positive light and to be there for them and help any way that we can.
“There’s times I’ve been with Boston Children’s Hospital patients and it’s just pretty cool just being with them and being able to do anything I can and put a smile on their face.”
As the Bruins brace for a playoff run in the coming weeks, Drake Maye and the Patriots will start voluntary offseason workouts on April 20.
