Is the Lone Star state ready for Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser)? Created by EP/showrunner Chad Feehan (Lawmen: Bass Reeves) and based on characters created by EPs Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, Dutton Ranch follows these beloved Yellowstone characters as they start their own homestead in south Texas in the aftermath of the devastating assassination of John Dutton (Kevin Coster) and the sale of their beloved family ranch to the Broken Rock reservation.
The first two episodes of the nine-episode first season— produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios—will premiere globally on Paramount+ on Friday, May 15. Finn Little, who plays Rip’s and Beth’s surrogate son, Carter, will reprise his role from the original series. Hollywood heavyweights Annette Benning and Ed Harris also star, along with Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, and Natalie Alyn Lind.
The description of the series in a press release says it all: “As Beth and Rip fight to build a future together – far from the ghosts of Yellowstone – they collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire. In South Texas, blood runs deeper, forgiveness is fleeting, and the cost of survival might just be your soul.”

The first teaser for the Dutton Ranch provides a tantalizing taste of what is to come. It begins with Rip finding a dead body on their property, which is nothing new for John Dutton’s former ranch foreman. The next shot has Beth, holding a gun and looking rattled, marching up to two police officers. Next there is a cut to Beth and Rip sitting on their new front porch later that night. “What a day,” says Beth, tired. “Welcome to Texas,” replies Rip as he hands her a drink.
Set to a country music cover of Eminem’s “Till I Collapse,” a series of images go by that include: Rip shooting a gun; Beth strutting into a meeting; Rip punching a guy out; and Harris as the town’s veterinarian Everett McKinney. The juicy part of the teaser belongs to a tete a tete between Beth and Bening’s Beulah Jackson, who is described as “the powerful, cunning and charming head of a major ranch in Texas.”
“A legacy is a beautiful thing,” says Beth to Beulah. “But only if it survives.” The two women stare each other down before another series of explosive images flashes on the screen, ending with Rip and Beth slow-motion walking away from a trailer on fire.
More details will undoubtedly be revealed before the series’ spring premiere. Until then, 5 seasons of Yellowstone are streaming on Peacock and more amazing series from the Sheridanverse are available on Paramount+.
