A motorcyclist who rear-ended another vehicle on a San Diego interstate was killed Thursday morning in a crash that led to a full closure of the roadway.
The collision happened shortly after 5 a.m. Thursday, when the rider of a northbound white CFMOTO 450SS, for unknown reasons, crashed into a Ford Explorer on Interstate 805 south of Murray Ridge Road in the Mission Hills area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike, landed on the roadway, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the motorcyclist was being withheld pending notification of relatives by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
All lanes on southbound I-805 were temporarily closed. All lanes were reopened as of 7:50 a.m.
It was unclear if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash.
