A video of a puppy meeting a 10-month-old baby has melted hearts across the internet.
Alyssa Wright, from Charlotte, North Carolina, captured her fostered dog, Muffin, being introduced to her baby niece, Reese, in a clip on TikTok (@alyssa0wright).
With Reese propped up on the couch, Alyssa encourages Muffin to come over, wagging her tail in excitement. Eventually Muffin becomes more confident and positions herself on top of Reese’s little legs.
While some dogs can be uncertain around small children, Muffin’s reaction to Reese didn’t come as a surprise to Alyssa. “I have posted some other TikTok videos of her meeting people because she is so friendly,” the 27-year-old told Newsweek. “She cries when we go on walks [if] people walk past her without saying hi.”
Reese was visiting from Connecticut for the weekend as part of a family gathering to celebrate Alyssa’s mother’s 60th birthday and Easter.
Alyssa explained that Muffin is a puppy she is fostering through Billie’s Buddies, a rescue organization based in Charlotte. With relatives staying at her home, Muffin had temporarily been cared for by another foster family so things didn’t get too chaotic.
“She got dropped back off to me on Saturday and I knew she’d be thrilled to meet the baby as she loves people,” Alyssa said.
The wholesome meeting went viral on TikTok, clocking up 3 million views. In the comments, other users agreed with Alyssa’s caption, which called the clip “the cutest thing you’ll see today.”
“She said wait, we’re both babies,” one user wrote.
“Best friends for life,” another added.
“Love how she became so gentle very quickly,” a third cried.
Muffin’s exact breed is unknown, though commenters guessed that she could be a Black Mouth Cur or Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. According to Alyssa, Muffin’s sister, Pancake, is still adoptable through Billie’s Buddies as well.
The viral moment has also sparked renewed interest not only in Muffin herself but in fostering and adoption more broadly. Alyssa said she hopes the attention helps Muffin find a permanent, loving home—perhaps even within her own family.
“Right now, I’m trying to convince my brother and his girlfriend to adopt her! But I just hope she goes to a family that will enjoy all of her sweetness and give her the best years ahead.”
Beyond Muffin’s future, Alyssa hopes the video encourages viewers to consider fostering, adopting, or donating to rescue organizations and animal shelters.
