A good Samaritan was slashed in the face when he tried to break up a fight on board a train passing through a Manhattan hub last week, cops and sources said.
The victim was riding a southbound 4 train through the 14th Street Union Square stop around 2:40 p.m. Friday when he spotted a bespectacled, backpack-carrying stranger involved in a heated feud with someone else, the sources said.
When he stepped in, the maniac turned on him — slashing him in the face, authorities and sources said.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
The attacker ran off on foot and had not been caught by Wednesday, cops said.
Surveillance grabs show the suspect, described as a man with a dark complexion, wearing a gray Nike sweatsuit and clutching his cell phone as he appears to yell at someone on board the train.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
