Gym, tan, laundry… and Lena?
On Live with Kelly and Mark on Monday, Kelly Ripa shared how her and Mark Consuelos‘ beloved dog Lena’s name has ties to Jersey Shore. The reveal came during a game of Stump Mark, in which Consuelos was dealt the following two statements about contestant Annabel Rayl from Pittsburgh, PA: “I named my pets after TV show characters” and “I teach rock climbing classes.”
Before Consuelos had the chance to guess which statement was true, Ripa told Consuelos that “Lena is named after a TV person.”
“Who is she named after?” Consuelos asked.
“Her birth name in the shelter was Angelina, after the characters from the Jersey Shore,” Ripa said, referring to Angelina Pivarnick.
Ripa, who adopted Lena during a pet adoption segment on Live in 2021, reminded EP Michael Gelman that “all of those pets were named after characters from the Jersey Shore.”
“We shortened it to Lena, but her birth name was Angelina, after Angelina from the Jersey Shore,” she added.
Gelman also adopted his dog, Billie, on the show, though he remembered his pup’s birth name being Devon. However, Ripa said that was not the case, and insisted that Billie was originally “named something else” inspired by a star of the hit MTV reality series

“I just remember them telling us that at the shelter. They just named them all after Jersey Shore,” she remembered. “There was Snooki, there was Pauly D. Maybe Billie was Pauly D?”
The reveal arrives just ahead of the final season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, which premieres on MTV on May 7.
