Fitzsimmons, a former North Andover police officer who was shot by a colleague in her home last summer, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon for allegedly pointing her firearm at the other officer prior to the shooting. She maintains she was attempting to kill herself and only ever pointed the gun at herself.
