The Los Angeles Lakers were thoroughly in control through three quarters against the league-worst Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.
But Bronny James, 21, kept Lakers fans by elevating well above the rim to throw down a dunk in the fourth quarter. The younger James drew comparisons to his father, 41-year-old LeBron James, who held his own unofficial dunk contest throughout the Lakers’ win in Indiana.
On Friday, the Jameses kept the highlights coming.
In the second quarter against the visiting Brooklyn Nets, the elder James passed to a wide-open Bronny, who drilled a 26-foot three-pointer.
The bucket marked the first father-to-son assist in NBA history, according to ESPN.
The Lakers drafted Bronny James in the second round (No. 55 overall) out of USC in 2024. Bronny and LeBron James became the first-ever father-son duo to share an NBA floor during the Lakers’ preseason game against Phoenix on Oct. 6, 2024.
They officially made history as the first father-son duo to play in the NBA together in the Lakers’ regular-season opener later that month.
After that game, LeBron and Bronny shared the podium in the postgame press conference, and LeBron said, “Everything was just great today for me. Everything, everything, everything was great. From the moment I woke up, I saw my daughter before she went to school. I went to work and saw my son at work.”
Bronny has split his time between the Lakers and their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, to nurture his development.
LeBron James is wrapping up his NBA-record 23rd season. The 22-time All-Star and four-time NBA champion is averaging 21 points, 6.9 assists, and six rebounds.
The Lakers beat the Nets 116-99 to move to 48-26 on the season. They’re essentially locked into the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference after winning 10 of their last 11 entering Friday’s game against the Nets. The NBA playoffs tip off on April 18.
