A building in the heart of downtown Royal Oak has seen a number of different restaurants concepts over the years. Now, it’s become what its owner is describing as “a whole Italian complex.”
Little Bella’s Pizza & Wine Bar is opening Thursday on the ground floor of 100 S. Main St., Royal Oak, following the upstairs Bella Limone last year. Previously, the building housed multiple concepts with Pinky’s Rooftop, Pearl’s Deep Dive, and Bohemia.
While Bella Limone focused on Italian-inspired dishes featuring zesty lemon flavors, Little Bella’s is built around brick oven-fired pizzas. Both restaurants are operated by Adam Merkel Restaurants, the restaurant group behind Howell restaurants Diamonds Steak & Seafood, Cello Italian, and The Silver Pig Oyster Bar.
“Little Bella’s was designed to feel fun, inviting, and a little unexpected,” Merkel said in a statement. “We wanted to create a space with real soul and personality — great pizza, a thoughtfully curated wine and cocktail program, and an atmosphere that feels stylish, comfortable, and full of energy.”
The scratch-made menu also includes dishes like gnocchi, lemon bucatini, handmade tortelloni, and roasted branzino. A beverage program is curated by Sean May, who comes from experience at Birmingham’s Adachi.
“One thing that really sets us apart is our espresso martini section, with three different versions on the cocktail menu, each with its own personality and all of them exceptional,” Merkel added. “Combined with the food, I believe Little Bella’s will quickly become known across Metro Detroit for its espresso martinis.”
A happy hour is planned for 4-5:30 p.m. daily.
