After years of illness, Natick woman runs Boston Marathon with BAA

After years of struggling with autoimmune diseases, Mackenzie Roy will run the race she grew up watching.

I was born and raised in Natick and grew up watching the Boston Marathon. It was a family tradition before I was even born.

She survived a brain aneurysm — now she’s finishing the Marathon Majors in Boston

Fifteen years ago, while watching the race, I decided that one day I was going to run the Boston Marathon myself. After many years of struggling with autoimmune diseases, I finally reached a point where I was ready to do it.

I’m so happy to be running with B.A.A. Gives Back. By supporting this organization, we can help promote not only the spirit of running, but also community, health, and fitness for everyone.
