A man swept away by floodwaters in San Bernardino after clinging to the top of his truck was found dead on Wednesday about a mile away, authorities said.
Rescuers found his body just after 8 a.m. after he was carried away by rushing water late Tuesday night near Keenbrook Road and Cajon Boulevard in the Devore neighborhood, according to the San Bernardino County Fire department.
The man was identified via witness statements on scene, the department said. His identity was not immediately disclosed.
The victim’s daughter had joined in the search, Fox 11 reported.
Two other adults at the scene Tuesday night were able to “self-rescue” before first responders arrived , the fire department added.
Rescue teams had resumed their search Wednesday morning after calling it off the night before after two hours due to the weather.
The area where the man was swept away forms a natural creek bed and can be prone to flooding, officials noted.
