Man sitting in vehicle fatally shot in Austin

A man sitting in a vehicle was fatally shot Monday morning in Austin on the West Side.

The unidentified man, 45, was in the 5400 block of West Jackson Boulevard around 6:50 a.m. when at least one person approached and opened fire, Chicago police said.

He was struck in the chest and abdomen and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Area 4 detectives were investigating.
