(WSVN) – People of faith around the world are observing Ash Wednesday.
Parishioners will usually attend church and receive ashes on their foreheads in the sign of the cross.
Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, which lasts 40 days, until Easter Sunday.
It is also common for many to give up specific habits for Lent, like candy or social media use.
