An 88-year-old woman who was reported missing late last month was found slain, wrapped in a rug on the Far South Side Tuesday, according to authorities and a source.
Police were called to the 10700 block of South Lafayette Avenue Tuesday about 11:15 a.m., where they found the woman unresponsive, wrapped in rug, inside a home, police and a source said.
The woman, who was pronounced dead on the scene, died of multiple injuries from an assault, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which ruled her death a homicide.
The 88-year-old was last seen on March 27, according to a Chicago police missing persons report. She suffers from high blood pressure, heart disease and circulation issues and drives a gray 2021 Ford Echo, according to the report.
