Needham 16-year-old charged with murder in Roxbury slaying of woman, 61

The teen, who was already in custody on unrelated charges, is now facing counts of murder and aggravated assault.

A 16-year-old boy from Needham was charged Wednesday with allegedly murdering a woman last October in Roxbury, according to police.

The teen, whom officials have not publicly identified because he is a minor, is charged with murder, aggravated assault, and unlawful possession of a firearm, Boston police said in a press release. He is currently in custody on unrelated firearms charges and will be arraigned in Boston District Court at a later date, the department said.

Police charged the boy in connection with the fatal Oct. 13 shooting of Marie Molea-Anthony, 61, of Boston. Just after 1 p.m. that day, they received a radio call about a person shot near 1855 Washington St. in Roxbury, according to the statement.

When officers arrived, they found an adult woman, later identified as Molea-Anthony, suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Boston police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Molea-Anthony’s death. The department urged anyone with information to contact them at 617-343-4470.
