Drake Maye shaves his head as part of charity event benefiting Boston Children’s Hospital

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye will be sporting a new look this spring.

The 23-year-old QB took part in Granite Telecommunications’ “Saving by Shaving” event benefiting Boston Children’s Hospital on Tuesday — shaving his head as part of the fundraising endeavor that raised a total of $4.15 million.

As part of the event, Granite Telecommunications donated $2,500 for every person who shaved their head or donated at least eight inches of hair, with Granite CEO Rob Hale and his family matching, dollar for dollar.

Maye was not the only one to embrace the wiffle, as former Patriots offensive lineman Joe Andruzzi, WEEI radio personality Greg Hill, Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch, and Boston Children’s CEO and president Kevin Churchwell all buzzed their heads as well.

Maye’s wife, Ann Michael Maye, was on hand for Tuesday’s event — making the first few rounds with the clippers before turning it over to a few of the professionals.

“I cut my grandma’s hair one time, and it looked so horrible,” she told Christopher Price of The Boston Globe. “It was during COVID, and she really needed a haircut, so I gave her a haircut, and it looked so bad. So we’ll see how this goes.”

Drake Maye and Ann Michae Maye launched “The MayeDay Family Foundation” last week to help children and families in need throughout New England, as well as in the Mayes’ home state of North Carolina.

“I think it’s one of the biggest things in life to have been blessed to be where I’m at today, and being able to give back,” Drake Maye told Price of his philanthropic efforts. “And I know my family, [it was] big, growing up, my parents and being around Ann Michael, we loved being out in the community and trying to, like I said, give back and do things that are bigger than what I do for a living. So, that’s what it’s about.”
