Prime Video has a selection of original titles heading to the streaming service throughout April, starting on April 5 with Season 1 of “Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun.”
The series depicts a near-future Japan where revolution has risen from nuclear war, a corrupt government, and natural disasters. With civilization collapsed, and the nation split into three states, they find themselves at war for ultimate supremacy.
Perhaps the most anticipated title heading to Prime Video next month is Season 5 of “The Boys.” The new season arrives two years on from the last, and will serve as a conclusion for the series, which first premiered in 2019.
This season’s official synopsis, as per Prime Video, reads: “In the fifth and final season, it’s Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp.” Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it. It’s the climax, people. Big stuff’s gonna happen.”
On April 15, an original film hits the mix, “BALLS UP,” starring Mark Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser as Brad and Elijah, who play marketing executives in what’s being described as a “raunchy, over-the-top comedy.” The duo pitches a condom sponsorship with the World Cup, and after their drunken celebrations in Brazil spark a global scandal, they find themselves needing to outrun furious fans, as well as officials, in hopes of salvaging their careers before it’s too late.
April 17 has a double drop, with the debut seasons of new shows “Absolute Value of Romance” and “American Gladiators.”
Then, on April 20, there’s Season 1 of “Kevin,” a new animated series loosely based on a real-life break-up, and the cat who got caught in the middle. The voice cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Aubrey Plaza, Whoopi Goldberg, John Waters, Aparna Nancherla, Gil Ozeri, and Amy Sedaris.
Another double drop lands on April 24, with Season 2 of “Cangaço Novo,” and Season 1 of “Naughty Business,” and the new title drops wrap up on April 29 with Season 1 of “The House of the Spirits.”
