Painter claiming injury at Bill Belichick’s house sues him over alleged unsafe work site

The painter claims he fell at one of Belichick’s Nantucket homes and is seeking nearly $300,000 in damages.

A painter is suing Bill Belichick for nearly $300,000, alleging the former Patriots coach was responsible for an unsafe work site where the painter fell and badly injured his ankle at one of the Belichick’s properties on Nantucket.

The painter, Andrew Jackson, filed the suit in Nantucket Superior Court on April 2.

In the complaint, Jackson said that he was painting at 45 Fair St. on June 21, 2024, when the placement or use of plastic sheeting or coverings created an unsafe site.

“As a direct result of said dangerous and unsafe conditions, (Jackson) slipped and fell while at the premises,” the complaint said.

Due to the fall, the complaint said that Jackson sustained “serious bodily injuries. Including a severe right ankle injury, together with pain, disability, medical expenses, lost wages, and other consequential damages.”

Jackson has received workers’ compensation benefits through his employer, but has the right to pursue third-party negligence action against non-employer responsible parties.

He is requesting that the court award him $285,436 in damages, according to the Civil Cover Sheet.

Jackson’s lawyer did not have any additional comments on Monday. Boston.com could not immediately reach Belichick, who did not yet have an attorney listed.

The downtown Nantucket home at 45 Fair St. is one of the many properties Belichick owns on the island. He bought the property in the spring of 2024 for $4.8 million.

He also owns a small compound in ’Sconset and recently sold a cottage at 3 Gully Road for nearly $4 million. Belichick also owns the property nearby at 7 North Gully Road, where the Nantucket Current — the outlet to first report the new lawsuit — reports that he is building a new home.
