Patriots sign veteran cornerback Kindle Vildor

The Patriots are signing cornerback Kindle Vildor to a one-year contract, a league source confirmed Thursday.

Vildor, 28, spent last season with the Buccaneers, playing 15.7 percent of the defense’s snaps. He appeared in 12 games and intercepted one pass (Mac Jones, 49ers, in Week 6).

After the Bears drafted Vildor out of Georgia Southern in the fifth round in 2020, he played three seasons in Chicago before getting waived as part of the team’s final roster cuts at the end of training camp in 2023.

Vildor has since bounced around multiple teams, including a brief stint in Tennessee when Mike Vrabel was Titans coach. He also played five games for the Lions when Terrell Williams was Detroit’s defensive line coach. The Patriots will be Vildor’s sixth NFL team.

In New England, Vildor will round out the cornerbacks depth chart. He will compete with Charles Woods and Kobee Minor as the third perimeter option behind Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis.
